Course Details

This course explores a range of strategies that will help schools develop and build on effective and valuable partnership with families in order to close the attainment gap. It looks at the barriers that prevent family participation, with suggestions as to how these can be addressed. It also discusses ways to improve home/school communication, gain parental support for learning, reach disengaged families and listen and respond to parents' views.

This course will draw on the latest research which indicates Family Engagement has a bigger influence on raising attainment than any other social and economic factors. Through practical activities participants will develop ideas and plan an approach for engaging families in their own setting using How Good is Our School 4.

This interactive one day course will:

  • Help you identify and overcome the barriers to family involvement
  • Inspire you with best practice examples and explore strategies for engagement
  • Equip you with the knowledge and tools to move your family engagement agenda forward
  • Enable you to evaluate and demonstrate the impact of this work on school outcomes (HGIOS4)
