Course Details

This is a practical and informative course to discuss and examine how you can implement Spanish as L3 in primary school, aimed at teachers who do not have a lot of knowledge and practice of the Spanish language.

Languages are getting more and more implemented within the primary curriculum due to the 1+2 requirements. However, many teachers feel they are not getting prepared to teach a foreign language with their class. Teaching a language we don't know can be daunting for anyone. Therefore, if you feel this way but if you have to teach Spanish next year, this course is made more you.

This course is carried out over 2 sessions. Within these 2 sessions, you will be introduced to the Spanish language and given the confidence (and the resources) you need, to teach your class.

You are going to be taught Spanish (at a beginner level), you are going to be given an idea of a project you could use within your class and you will also be given some resources you could use directly into your class.

The project will be: ALL ABOUT ME

Within this project, the following topics will be looked at:

  • Spanish alphabet and pronunciation
  • Greetings
  • How to give your name
  • How to give your age
  • How to give your date of birth
  • How to say where you are from/where you live
  • Talk about family (and brother and sister)
  • Talk about pets
  • The colours

During the CPD event, you will practise this vocabulary in small groups to allow you to become more confident in your ability. You will also discuss how to make resources in the four skills adapted to the level of the pupils.

You will also be given examples of activities, resources and audio files which have been successfully used in class.
